FIX Tag 44 – Price
Order Tag
Price specifies the limit price for limit orders (OrdType=2) or stop price for stop orders (OrdType=3). Price is required when OrdType=2 (Limit) or OrdType=3 (Stop). For market orders (OrdType=1), Price is typically omitted.
Correct Usage
Set Price to the limit price for limit orders. Price must be positive and match broker's tick size requirements. Format as decimal number (e.g., 150.00). Verify price is within market limits and reasonable range.
Common Issues
1) Missing Price for limit orders triggers reject, 2) Invalid Price format (non-numeric), 3) Price violates tick size rules, 4) Price outside market limits, 5) Negative price value causes reject.
